[captioning performed by the national captioning institute, which is responsible for its caption content and accuracy. visit ncicap.org] you are watchit 4. before the big race in november, there are hurdles along the way. primary voting is underway in wisconsin. polls are open until 8 tonight. primary day. we're following some key races in the state. we have team coverage as people head to the polls. our ted perry is in the newsroom with a look at the specifics of paul ryan's challenge to his seat in congress. but we start with fox 6's a-j bayatpour. he's live in oak creek at one polling place that saw some issues. he's also checking out how voters are doing with the voter i-d requirement in place.

this is one of the polling places where the city clerk says there were reports of improper electioneering - people campaigning too close to the entrance. we found a small group of paul nehlen supporters in mount pleasant. we met people from texas and virginia who say theyre here to back nehlen. they admit officials told them they cannot place campaign signs on location. they must also stay at least 100 feet from any entrance to the building. the oak creek city clerk says she got numerous calls about electioneering this morning... our chief inspectors who manage our polling locations have reported there have been some passionate electioneers at our polling locations. i personally visited two of those locations and spoke

today, photo id is in effect for todays primary. a recent ruling allowing people to fill out an affidavit if they cant easily get an id...is currently in place for november. however, officials here in oak creek, as well as the state elections commission, say there have been few complaints or issues with photo i-d so far today. live in oak creek, a.j. bayatpour, fox 6 news. ste house speaker paul ryan aims to keep his seat in congress. but he has a challenger who has built up a bit of buzz leading up to today. fox 6's ted perry joins us from the newsroom with a look at the race. on paper, it's a race that is far from close. but as they say, you still have to play the game. republican paul ryan faces paul nehlen knee-lin in wisconsin's primary for the first congressional district.the contest drew national attention recently

no endorse ryan while exchanging nicities with nehlen on twitter. but at his event in green bay on friday, the business mogul eventually threw his support behind the house speaker. ryan did pull a similar move in the spring, not endorsing trump off the bat. it brought nehlen some attention. but a recent survey showed ryan was in the lead by a margin of 80 to 14. as of this morning, ryan has outspent nehlen eleven-to-one ahead of today's primary. most of that money goi ads. reporting from the newsroom, ted perry fox 6 news. brad thanks ted. former wisconsin senator and current candidate russ feingold faces political newcomer "scott harbach" from kenosha. the winner of today's primary will face incumbent republican senator ron johnson. feingold lost his u-s senate seat to ron johnson six years ago. senator johnson is the lone republican candidate - he does not have a challenger in today's primary.

wisconsin's 4th district. senator taylor sits on the state budget-writing committee, and she's seeking a 4th term. state representative mendela barnes is vying for taylor's seat. barnes and taylor are the only two running for the state senate seat. and milwaukee county district attorney john chisholm is running for re-election today. it would be his fourth term. he is facing attorney verona swanigan. we will have complete coverage of all these big races on our website -- fox six now dot com, and your fox six news mobile app. click the "politics" tab. an polls close tonight for election results on fox6 news at 9 and 10 donald trump's running mate will make two stops in wisconsin this week, one of those here in milwaukee. indiana governor mike pence has an appearance scheduled in la crosse on thursday at three p-m. at seven thursday night, pence is scheduled to speak at the hilton in downtown milwaukee. you can request tickets for the milwaukee and la crosse events

six now dot com, or your fox six news mobile app. milwaukee police are investigating a double homicide. two men were killed, but with different weapons. police say they responded to a house near north 36th and ruby early this morning to find one man dead of gunshot wounds. another man was stabbed and died a short time later at the hospital. at this time police say they do not have a suspect and no motive. those who knew the shooting victim identify him as 44-year-old billie hill, a well known barber in the city. the reaction is just sad , it's gloomy like i didn' be here. i came to see him. he's always here. he's always laughing and cracking jokes by the bowl. like who would do that to him. he was the sweetest person ever. autopsies for both men are happening today. police say they are still in the early stages of the investigation, and believe both men were killed at the same location. police are investigating a

on the ride at a county fair in greenville -- when the basket tipped over. the children fell 30- to 40- feet. a 6 year old girl has a traumatic brain injury. her 10 year old sister has an injured arm. and a 16 year year old girl had critical injuries-- but is now considered stable. police say they are still looking into what happened. "we are considering it a crime scene at this point, so we can determine whether there was some malfunction, make sure there was no foul play, that it was ju check all the rides at fair-- that's expected to take a few days. all rides are shut down while that takes place. more than a day after the outage -- delta passengers are still having troubles getting into the air. after one-thousand flights were canceled yesterday, 300 more were canceled today. a massive power outage led to computer glitches. in addition to refunds for

election officials are projecting about a 16 percent turnout at the polls today. fox6s rachelle baillon is live in milwaukee with more on what were seeing at the polls there. good afternoon. the executive director for the city of milwaukee elections commission tells me theyre projecting turnout will be right on par with that projection of 16 percent of eligible voters.....he says thats about 18-20

locations today and about 1200 poll workers. he says there was a good rush of voters early this morning; some people were already in line when the doors opened.....but theres been a lull this afternoon. weve seen very few people going into this location near city hall this afternoon. he does expect there to be another little rush as folks head home from work. he expects that to last until about 7, with the polls closing at 8. 'as long as youre in line at your voting site we hones lines things are moving pretty quickly at all the voting sites but should you be in a line at 8 o clock youre still going to be able to vote.' for those who havent voted yet but are planning to vote this evening, one thing to keep in mind: this is a partisan primary, so you cant vote for candidates across parties. if you do, your ballot will be rejected and youll have to start the process over. if youre confused, ask a poll worker for help. reporting live

from london. vladimir putin welcoming turkey's recep tayyip erdogan to saint petersburg... it's the first time the two presidents are meeting since turkish forces shot down a russian warplane along the syrian border last november. their countries back opposing sides in the civil war there... and the incident prompted moscow to cut ties with ankara. ergodan says: "..the relations between russia and turkey entered into a really familiar with the process of setting up great goals. i am sure that steps we both take will widen our cooperation.'' voice of translator repairing the relationship could provide a boost to the russian economy, including a pipeline which would bring natural gas to turkey. moscow is also hoping to increase its influence in syria. putin says: "..despite a very complicated internal political situation in turkey your visit today means that we all want a renewal of our dialogue and restoration of our relations in the interests of the russian and

community went traveling back in time -- as a piece of local history was moved to its original spot. an old county grammar school was moved back to it's place on a small hilltop yesterday. the building recently served as a hall, but town officials decided they wanted to schoolhouse back in its old place. so -- they had more than 20 teams of people and even oxen help pull it! messier says: "we excavated under the building so we could put our big main steel underneath and then and we put our cross steel on p covered by mws, house being moved came in and put hydrologic jacks in there picked it up about eight feet." the building was first moved in 18-69 to be closer to the town center. it was moved back in the interest of preservation. we can all imagine the dark, gross contents of new york sewers. but something in one -- surprised even police. coming up -- the underground drug operation they stumbled upon. plus -- the health concern that

formaldehyde is a colorless gas that can cause cancer in humans if we're exposed to too much. its in many types of household products and made headlines last year when laminate flooring from lumber liquidators was reported to emit worrisome levels of the gas. consumer reports has tested a variety of flooring for formaldehyde. jenna sachs has a look at the results in this contact 6 report. laminate flooring is less there have been concerns that the flooring emits formaldehyde. so consumer reports bought a variety of wood-based flooring products and ran lab tests over the past year. "it was a small study, but we did find that laminate and engineered wood had consistently higher levels of formaldehyde emissions compared to prefinished solid-wood samples that we tested." natsot: flooring installation if you're putting in new flooring, consumer reports says pre-finished solid- wood

for reducing formaldehyde exposure. if you've had laminate or engineered wood flooring for several years, theres less cause for concern because formaldehyde is a volatile chemical that will dissipate over time. "the problem is lots of products can emit formaldehyde, especially when they're new. things like permanent-press fabric, upholstery, plywood, particleboard, paints, and cigarettes all can emit formaldehyde." to lower formaldehyde levels, open windows to let in fresha clothing and curtains before using them, choose wood furniture without formaldehyde- containing glues, and ban indoor smoking. but forget about using an air purifier. it probably wont lower formaldehyde levels. nor will putting a rug over your floor. on july 27th, the epa finalized a new ruleto reduce exposure to formaldehyde vapors from certain wood products. starting next year, wood products that comply with the new federal standards will be labeled, making it easier for consumers to make informed

many people develop physical disabilities later on in life. but a new study shows -- staying agile could come from having a job. more. new research shows working and volunteering later in life may reduce your chance of developing physical disabilities. this according to researchers at georgia state university and florida state university. the study found people ages 50 to 64 who worked full-time or part-time or volunteered up to 100 hours per year... had a smaller chance of getting a chronic condition that limited their movement... like the ability to walk or climb.

than 13- thousand people over 14 years. a new study from m-i-t reveals that a brain region dedicated to reading ...has connections for that skill even before children learn to read. it was done by scanning the brains of children before and after they learned. the researchers found they could predict the precise location where each child's reading ability would develop in their brain. the kids were scanned twice -- read. the scans showed a number of different connections in the brain. the team hopes to use its research to determine if kids are at risk for dyslexia and other reading difficulties. well -- it's almost here.... time to head back to school.. and if you're a parent.. you're already thinking about how ?you'll get that sleepy ?teen ?out of bed in the morning. a cleveland clinic sleep expert says teens' reluctance to get up for school doesn't mean they are lazy.. instead, they simply require

getting enough sleep can cause negative health consequences including an increased likelihood to suffer depression. and fixing the problem could be as easy a slowly changing their sleep schedule. to sell president obama's old senate seat. he won a chance at re-sentencing after an appellate court last year dropped five of the eighteen charges against him. today -- the ex-governor had a video conference hearing and he found out he will serve the full sentence-- so he'll be in prison until 20-24. today marks the second anniversary of the shooting death of michael brown in ferguson, missouri. a grand jury decided not to indict the officer. brown's death sparked protests in ferguson and around the country. his family has filed a civil lawsuit against the ci ever had the desire to rent out some of twitter's state-of-the-art office space in san francisco? now you can. in a move to increase profitability -- twitter will rent out 30-percent of its headquarters. that comes out to more than 180- thousand square feet of space. despite its popularity -- twitter has been struggling to gain users and turn a profit. last week it announced a second-quarter loss of more than 100- million dollars. the space to be sold is split between two

an indian court grants bail to a political activist on a hunger strike for the past 16 years. the woman has been force-fed in jail over that time. she began fasting to protest indian law that suspends human rights in conflicted areas. she was charged with attempting to commit suicide, which is a crime in india. last week, she announced plans to end her fast and run for state elections. parts of mexico bracing for the worst as tropical storm javier hits the country. mexican authorities have evacuated people from low-lying areas near the resort city of cabo san lucas. the storm is expected to bring heavy rains and high winds to the region through tomorrow. it's a milestone for a baby panda in china. the first giant panda born in shanghai turns one month old today. reports say the female cub is in good
